In April 2022, Flagstaff, Arizona, was hit with an unexpected challenge as the Tunnel Fire threatened our community. The flames posed a serious danger, but our local heroes, the firefighters, put in tireless efforts to contain the blaze. However, on April 19, strong winds and warm weather revived the fire’s intensity, putting 1,335 structures in jeopardy. The fire eventually took 30 homes, 24 outbuildings and scorched 19,060 acres of our beloved land. Despite the devastation, our community’s unbreakable spirit and the unwavering commitment of our firefighters shone through.
A Community United
At Block-Lite, we’re more than just a business – we’re your neighbors with a deep-rooted commitment to Flagstaff. When our beloved hometown faced the Tunnel Fire, we didn’t simply stand by and watch. Instead, we sprang into action, proving that our commitment goes well beyond business – it’s personal for us.
Take the Miller House, for instance. After the devastating fire took away the Miller family’s home, we, along with local builders and volunteers, came together to build them a new one. But it wasn’t just about bricks and mortar; it was about rebuilding lives and restoring hope. The Miller House is just one great example of our great community.
It’s a reminder that together, we can overcome anything that comes our way. We believe in being there for our community when it matters most. Because for us at Block-Lite, Flagstaff isn’t just a place we work; it’s our home.
Our partnership with the community extends beyond immediate relief. Block-Lite has supported families by donating blocks for the rebuilding of their homes, with plans for one more currently in the works. To date, we’ve contributed a total of 12,960 blocks to assist those affected by the Tunnel Fire.
Our commitment doesn’t stop there. We’re determined to continue extending our support to families who have lost their homes and structures in this fire. It’s heartening to see homeowners recognize the value of using masonry in their rebuilds and new constructions for greater resilience.
Sustaining Flagstaff’s Future: Long-Term Commitment
Block-Lite’s commitment to Flagstaff extends far beyond the immediate aftermath of the Tunnel Fire. As invested members of the community, we’ve laid out comprehensive plans for ongoing support, focusing on rebuilding and sustainability efforts. By investing in the long-term recovery of Flagstaff, Block-Lite is ensuring that the community not only survives, but thrives.
